kcsc98 asked:

I have a McAfee paid subscription that is about to expire. I also have AVG free version installed in my computer, and Windows Defender. I really do not want to renew my McAfee antivirus subscription if I can get a good free antivirus. I read some reviews that AVG is not that good, so what are my options? I also need a free personal firewall. Any suggestions?

AVG and Avast antivirus (Avast especially) are just about the best antivirus you can get right now.

    Firewalls are useless.

If you don’t like AVG, try Avira Personal or ClamAV/spywareterminator with ClamAV Plugin

Avast Home is a little bloated nowadays

People don’t like AVG because it does not have rootkit protection

This was the exact problem that we ran into when our McAfee subscription ran out. The thing that we did was install Norton Anti-Virus.It isn’t free but it was sure cheaper than buying McAfee again. But yes, I think I have heard that AVG is a good security center. My friend has it on their computer and it works well. But either way, Norton is a outstanding security center.
    Hope this helps(:

How To Remove / Uninstall Windows Enterprise Defender Virus (Removal Guide)
A new rogue anti-spyware (scam, scareware) has been infecting computers around the world. Called Windows Enterprise Defender, this program will try and trick you into buying it so you can remove the fake infections it created and then detected. Read more about what Windows Enterprise Defender does and how to remove it from your computer.

I’ve had this virus twice. I knew what to do. Thought I’d mention this, after seeing your post!

As to your question I use Avast free. You can schedual a boot scan to catch any virus in a dormant mode, so it can’t defend itself! Pretty cool, eh?
